If ever there were a bombshell wiggle dress from the 1950's, this is IT! From "Alix of Miami - Florida's First Name in American Fashion", renowned for their gorgeous cocktail dresses and elegant swimwear. This floral pattern dress has the most stunning shades of rich purples & violets with soft blue & black accents. It's a lightweight wool blend, fully lined in a sheer dark blue silk organza.
The right side of the sweetheart neckline has two downward facing pleats. From the lower pleat are three paneled darts that finish into the left side of the bust. This unique design creates a faux built-in bra effect that truly emphasizes the bust. The princess seam bodice of the dress has 3 front and 4 back seams for body-hugging in all the right places. The front waist line dips from the right at the waist to the lower left hip. Branching off the left hip are additional darts & pleats that create a faux-sarong effect; there is an actual wrap panel of fabric across the front of the skirt. The skirt of the dress is very slim-fit pencil skirt with a 3" inverted kick pleat in the back. It has 3/4 length raglan/dolman sleeves with pinch pleats on the underside. 25" back center zipper.
That's my attempt at describing the brilliant design of this work of art; I've tried to capture all the design details in the photos. (I had a difficult time capturing the true color of this dress; the 1st photo in the slides is closest to the actual palette.)
