From the estate of a New Jersey socialite who came of age during the glamorous, exciting 1930s. Green leather gauntlet-style leather gloves with elasticized wrists and four faux button design and fine top stitching. The gloves are stamped US Patent No 2066747 which was one of numerous inventions by Mr. Sylvan M. Straus who is credited with inventing the glove with an extensible (elasticized) wrist, the imitation button effect and many other designs related to gloves, hand bags and shoes. You can only imagine the elation of woman the world over when this extensible wrist became available!
SIZE: stamped 6 1/2
MEASUREMENTS: (Taken lying flat)
LENGTH: 9 1/2"
WIDTH: 2 7/8" @ center of palm
CONDITION: Very Good. There is a light spot on the underside of the left glove on the middle finger (see photo close up). One of the faux button inserts is missing but the leather remains raised so is not noticed. The elasticity is a bit frail, as you can imagine, but there is still some stretch to the wrist area. The gloves are very narrow and would fit a very slender, dainty hand best.
