Regal 1930s dressing gown in rich blue velvet from Filene's Boston Department Store. It has an oversized hood and full length sleeves that taper in just below the elbow~~looking elegant while keeping warm was the hoped for result and this dressing gown does not disappoint. It feels delicious on, how could it not with such luxurious champagne silk satin lining. The gown has a tie stitched into the seam on the right side. There is a loop sewn onto the left front that it slips through to tie closed to prevent it from slipping open. There are two velvet buttons on the front left with two matching loops. The gown is rather roomy in the shoulders & bust area, tapers in at the waist a bit and then flares out into an a-line. The body of the robe is constructed from five panels. The hood has a beautiful gathered effect at the nape. This elegant robe could also be worn as an evening coat. A beautiful treasure from the glamorous Art Deco days of the 1930's...

There are scattered small markings and worn spots on the back of the robe, typical for the age of garment, which are only highly visible in bright light and outside (Please see these photos which I took under bright light vs. how it looks in natural indoor lighting). It doesn’t compromise the overall integrity of the piece or it’s beauty & wearability. The lining is almost perfect, a few very faint shadows near the hem. The right underarm and wrist of the garment had some mending at the seams.
